Summer workshop and a sneak peek

Hello world! šŸ‘‹

We have been building Platter for 2 months fully remote and finally got a chance to do a workshop together. So we jumped in a car and drove 150km to Aleksi’s parents summer cottage near the sea for overnight stay. Amazing place! Workshopped until evening, grilled some food, had couple beers, sauna and dip in the sea. 5/5 really recommend to relocate once in a while with the team.

Our developing experience with Platter has been quite exciting. This is our 6th software that we are building together, some of them have succeed and most of them we have killed quite fast. But interesting enough, the experience naturally effects on our speed of getting things on a right track. In just a 2 months we have gone from idea to almost ready to launch MVP. The biggest thing we have been struggling is the good old classic ā€œwhats good enough?ā€.

So, whats good enough?

As we are building something that isn’t completely new, (and if we are honest to our selves I’d imagine that many could think ā€œYet another link in bio tool?ā€ about us when hearing first time) we have been figuring out what really makes this better and how we can beat the giants in the market.

Link in bio -tool market is quite saturated, there are many competitors but they mostly look the same and lack innovative ideas. Many of those products feels exactly like they have made a quick MVP and pushed it to market and gone with that. But for us, it really doesn’t feel an option if we really want to make this work.

We quickly realised that we have to deliver innovative ideas with better experience from the day one to attract any potential customers. Meaning just more developing for our end (but we are happy about that!).

Aleksi stumbled on to this GEM of a blog post about modern MVP by Tuomas Artman, one of the Linears Co-founders. Here is a quick quote that hits the spot, and if we would have an office, I would probably write it in our wall for time being.

Building something valuable is no longer about validating a novel idea as fast as possible. Instead, the modern MVP exercise is about buildingĀ a versionĀ of an idea that is different from and better than what exists today.

Highly recommend to read the whole post.

Sneak peek?

I’ve been yapping around about innovative ideas and our speed of making things happen, but what we have actually done to this day?

  • Created an initial version of our designer that combines the block (link) management with style options
  • Created extended analytics for the pages and blocks
  • Planned our creator program that allows users to receive 40% comission for every new paid user they bring to Platter
  • Multisite support under one account
  • Account settings
  • New layouts (more about these soon)
  • Blocks and styling options
  • And so on..

So quite a lot I would say!

Here is a sneak peek from our designer with classic layout and little something totally new if you look close enough. šŸ‘€

Thanks for reading! We are soon going to a well deserved small summer break so that our brains can relax a bit. But we are still aiming for early autumn release. Feel free to join our waitlist or our Discord.

Have a great summer! ā˜€ļø
